The project comprises a major expansion of seniors’ living accommodation, delivering high-quality independent, care-hub and dementia-support apartments alongside hospitality-style communal spaces and an extensive rooftop garden. Integrated sustainability initiatives, advanced services and thoughtful design support ageing in place while strengthening community connection within the Weston precinct.

The Grove Extension was delivered by Monarch Building Solutions and provides a significant expansion to an established retirement community in Ngunnawal. The project delivers 45 adaptable single-storey villas and sensitively repurposes the historic Gold Creek Homestead as a shared community amenity. Designed to support long-term independent living, the development integrates sustainability, accessibility and community-focused open spaces within a cohesive village setting.

The Gungahlin Cemetery Memorial Hall and Condolence Lounge was delivered by IQon
Pty Ltd to provide a dignified, contemporary facility within the Mitchell cemetery precinct. The project includes a memorial hall, condolence lounge and landscaped reflection spaces designed to support culturally diverse funeral and remembrance services. Thoughtful integration of architecture, light and landscape creates a calm and respectful community asset for northern Canberra.

The National Seed Bank Extension at the Australian National Botanic Gardens was delivered by Built in the suburb of Acton. The project expands specialist seed storage and research facilities through new laboratories, vaults and prefabricated modular buildings integrated within a sensitive bushland setting. The upgraded facility enhances Australia’s national seed conservation capability while providing improved workspaces for staff and volunteers.

The Southside Hydrotherapy Pool was delivered by Monarch Building Solutions and provides a purpose-built rehabilitation and wellness facility in Greenway. Connected to an operating leisure centre, the project includes a heated hydrotherapy pool, the ACT’s first Changing Places facility within a hydrotherapy building, and supporting community amenities. Delivered within a live operational environment, the facility significantly improves access to inclusive health infrastructure for Canberra’s southern suburbs.

The Brewarrina Apartments were delivered by Projex Building Group as a contemporary
social housing development in Denman. The project comprises 24 accessible and energy-efficient apartments designed to provide dignified, long-term housing for a diverse range of residents. Centralised solar generation, generous layouts and inclusive design demonstrate how social housing can deliver high-quality community-focused outcomes.

Goodwin Downer Retirement Village was delivered by Manteena in collaboration with joint
entrant CK Architecture (Aust) Pty Ltd, creating a contemporary and adaptable residential community in Downer. The four-building development provides independent and supportive living units supported by high-quality communal spaces, durable materials and a design that promotes wellbeing, connection and long-term performance. Strong coordination across multiple buildings and trades enabled the successful delivery of a sustainable, accessible retirement living environment that responds to its urban context.
