
Sulwood Drive Pavement Rehabilitation was delivered by Woden Contractors, applying a highly sustainable foamed bitumen stabilisation methodology to renew a key arterial
road in Kambah. In collaboration with specialist partners Stabilised Pavements of Australia and Downer EDI, the project maximised in-situ reuse of existing pavement materials, significantly reducing waste, haulage and embodied carbon. The works restored safety and ride quality while recycling over 6,400 tonnes of material and achieving a substantial reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared with traditional deep-lift asphalt.

The Garran Primary School P–6 Modernisation was delivered by Colin Joss & Co Pty Ltd
trading as Joss Construction, creating a future-focused and highly sustainable learning environment in Garran. Guided by Country-informed design principles, the project transformed the existing campus with light-filled learning spaces, a central courtyard, rooftop garden and integrated community facilities while achieving exceptional airtightness, high waste diversion and a pathway toward net-zero energy. Delivered on a live school site, the modernisation balances cultural expression, environmental leadership and build quality to set a new benchmark for public education infrastructure.

The Grove Passive House was delivered by Monarch Building Solutions and forms Australia’s first certified Passive House within a retirement village in Ngunnawal. The single-storey dwelling demonstrates how Passive House standards can be integrated into adaptable retirement living, delivering exceptional thermal comfort, air quality and reduced energy use through airtight construction, triple glazing and heat‑recovery ventilation. Developed as a prototype for future communities, the project proves that high‑performance sustainability and dignified, accessible living can coexist seamlessly.

The Turner project was delivered by GEN5 Constructions Pty Ltd in collaboration with joint entrant Habitat Constructions (NSW) Pty Ltd, creating a fully certified Passive House Plus residence in Turner. Combining advanced building science with refined craftsmanship, the
home integrates an airtight envelope, thermally broken structure, solar generation, battery storage and water self‑sufficiency to achieve exceptional performance and comfort. The project exemplifies how ambitious architectural design and luxury living can align with net‑positive sustainability principles.

Macgregor House was delivered by Vdara Construction in collaboration with joint entrant Neighbourhood Architecture, responding sensitively to a steep site in Macgregor. The compact knock‑down rebuild achieves an impressive 8.3‑star energy rating through passive solar orientation, restrained scale and low‑carbon material choices rather than
costly technology. This carefully crafted home demonstrates how thoughtful design and precision construction can deliver high‑quality, sustainable living within a modest residential footprint.

The Kings Highway and Monaro Highway Pavement Rehabilitation project was delivered by Woden Contractors as two sequential, sustainability-led road renewals. Located in the
Symonston area, the works prioritised pavement recycling through foamed bitumen stabilisation, reuse of existing materials and the ACT’s first use of flyash as
a secondary binder. The project achieved significant emissions reductions, improved long-term pavement performance and delivered safer, more resilient transport corridors with minimal environmental impact.
