Garran Primary School P-6 Modernisation - Joss Construction

The Garran Primary School P‑6 Modernisation was delivered by Colin Joss & Co Pty Ltd trading as Joss Construction within the suburb of Garran, in one of the most challenging WHS environments in the ACT. Undertaken within a fully operational school adjacent to Canberra Hospital’s emergency precinct, the project required bespoke safety systems

including a Child Incursion Response Protocol, helicopter flight‑path

procedures and real‑time environmental monitoring. Multilingual safety

communication, intensive consultation and proactive hazard management delivered

zero serious incidents while protecting students, staff, workers and the

surrounding community.

Australian War Memorial - Lendlease Construction

The Anzac Hall and Anzac Atrium project at the Australian War Memorial was delivered by Lendlease Construction in Campbell within a live public environment of national significance. The works involved complex heritage interfaces, high‑risk lifting of Large Technology Objects and innovative construction methodologies to eliminate or minimise hazards such as work at height and silica exposure. A comprehensive WHS system grounded in safety‑in‑design, engineered controls and extensive consultation ensured zero public incidents while delivering a technically and culturally sensitive landmark project.

Kings Highway and Monaro Highway Pavement Rehabilitation - Woden Contractors

The Kings Highway and Monaro Highway Pavement Rehabilitation project was delivered by Woden Contractors in the suburb of Symonston under live traffic conditions. The works required disciplined traffic management, staging and end‑of‑shift reinstatement controls

to manage vehicle intrusion, worker–plant interfaces and night‑works hazards. Proactive

WHS planning, consultation and design innovation, including foam‑bitumen stabilisation, enabled the project to be delivered with minimal incidents in a high‑risk arterial road environment.

Woden Bus Depot - Richard Crookes Constructions

The Woden Bus Depot project was delivered by Richard Crookes Constructions in Phillip and represents the largest electric bus charging facility in Australia. Delivered alongside RCC’s company‑wide Safety Change Plan, the project embedded safety as the highest priority through digital WHS systems, strong leadership accountability and extensive trade partner consultation. Complex high‑risk activities were managed through clear

technical standards, real‑time monitoring and proactive engagement, setting a benchmark for WHS performance on major commercial infrastructure projects.
